Passive Transport

The movement of materials through a cell membrane without the use of energy
Real World Example
Imagine trying to get a balloon to float from one side of a room to the other without using any effort. This is similar to passive transport, where materials move across a cell membrane without the cell expending any energy. Just as the balloon will drift naturally with the air currents from an open window or fan, molecules move across the cell membrane from areas of high concentration to low concentration, driven by natural forces like diffusion, without any energy input from the cell.
