Allele Frequency
Loading image...
The proportion of one allele of a gene compared to other alleles of the same gene
Real World Example
Imagine you're at a family dinner and everyone has to decide which type of pizza to order, with options like pepperoni, veggie, and cheese. This situation is similar to allele frequency because just as the group has to choose which pizza will satisfy most people at the table, a population has different alleles of a gene, and allele frequency measures how common each option is. Here, the different pizza types are like the different alleles, and the frequency of each choice (how many prefer pepperoni versus cheese) mirrors the proportion of each allele in the population.
