Imagine you’re at a busy family reunion where everyone is connected through various relationships, like siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles. This is similar to how a food web functions, where plants, animals, and other organisms are linked through complex feeding relationships. Just as each family member might play different roles at the reunion—like bringing a dish, setting up tables, or entertaining kids—organisms in an ecosystem play different roles, such as producers, consumers, or decomposers, with their interactions forming a network of overlapping food chains that sustain the ecosystem.
