Tympanic Membrane

The eardrum, a thin layer of skin between the outer and middle ear

Real World Example

Imagine trying to keep unwanted noise out of your room by using a thin curtain over the window. The tympanic membrane, or eardrum, functions similarly by acting as a barrier between the outer and middle ear, managing the sounds that enter. Just as the curtain filters and selectively allows sound, the eardrum vibrates in response to sound waves, transmitting these vibrations to the middle ear while protecting it from foreign particles, much like how the curtain blocks out dust and light.
