Real World Example

Imagine trying to inflate a balloon while holding it tightly at the neck. The diaphragm works like your hands gripping and releasing the neck of the balloon; it contracts and relaxes to control airflow. Just like your hands regulate the air going into the balloon to manage its inflation, the diaphragm moves to create space in the chest cavity, allowing the lungs to fill with air and manage breathing.
