Food Chain

The food energy transfer between organisms in an ecosystem

Real World Example

Imagine you're at a party, and there's only one pizza for a large group of people, so you have to share it wisely. This situation is similar to how energy is transferred in a food chain, where resources (like pizza slices) are passed from one organism to another. Just as each person at the party takes a slice and passes the box to the next until the pizza is gone, in a food chain, energy starts with plants (the pizza) and moves through herbivores (the first group enjoying the slices) to carnivores and so on, ensuring everyone gets a share of the available energy in the ecosystem.
