Heterotroph

An organism that cannot make its own food, including all animals
Real World Example
Imagine you have a car that needs gasoline to run but can't produce gasoline on its own. This is similar to heterotrophs, which are organisms that must consume other organisms for energy because they can't create their own food. Just like the car depends on an external source (the gas station) to fill up its tank and keep moving, heterotrophs rely on consuming other living things to get the energy they need to survive.
