Lava

Molten rock that reaches the Earth's surface

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to open a jar of honey, and as you finally twist the lid off, the sticky sweetness inside starts to ooze out and spread. This is much like how molten rock, known as magma, pushes its way up through the cracks in the Earth's crust and spills out as lava when it reaches the surface. Just as the honey inside the jar is under pressure and flows out once there's an opening, magma is under intense pressure beneath the Earth's crust and erupts as lava when it finds a path to the surface.
