Real World Example

Imagine you're at a concert and trying to see the stage, but your view is constantly blocked by people moving around in front of you. The way the stage becomes visible or hidden is similar to how the moon changes shape in the night sky. Just as your view of the stage is affected by the people moving around, the moon's appearance from Earth changes due to its position relative to the Earth and Sun; sometimes only part of it is illuminated, creating its varying phases.
