Reflex Arc

A nerve pathway made of a sensory neuron, interneuron, and motor neuron, it controls reflex actions

Real World Example

Imagine you're cooking in the kitchen and suddenly touch a hot pan, causing you to quickly yank your hand away without thinking. This reflex action is similar to the way a reflex arc operates in your body, which involves a direct and rapid pathway for sensory input to trigger an immediate response. In this analogy, touching the hot pan is like the sensory neuron detecting the stimulus, your lightning-fast decision to pull away is the interneuron in your spinal cord processing the information, and your hand moving away is the motor neuron executing the response.
