Real World Example
Imagine you’re trying to get a good night's sleep, but your mind is buzzing with thoughts about tomorrow's tasks and you can't relax. Just like how your mind is in a more active and restless state than when it’s calm and asleep, an atom in an excited state has absorbed energy and is more active than when it’s in its ground state. In this analogy, your calm, restful mind represents the atom’s ground state, while the buzzing, active mind corresponds to the excited state where energy levels are higher and rest is elusive.
