Habitat Fragmentation

The breaking of a habitat into smaller, isolated pieces

Real World Example

Imagine trying to keep a group of friends together at a crowded party where you're all in different rooms. This is similar to habitat fragmentation, where an ecosystem is broken into smaller, isolated patches, just like how the rooms separate you from your friends. Just as being in separate rooms makes it harder for you to interact and maintain your friendship, habitat fragmentation makes it difficult for species to interact, find mates, and access resources, threatening their survival and leading to ecological imbalance.
