Tropism

A change in a plant’s growth in response to external factors, like growing towards the light

Real World Example

Imagine trying to find your way to the kitchen in the dark because you're hungry. Just like you naturally move towards the light switch to illuminate your path and satisfy your hunger, plants grow towards the light to maximize their energy intake through photosynthesis. In both scenarios, there is a purposeful movement: you reach out towards the light switch to fulfill a need, and similarly, plants orient their growth towards light to meet their nutritional needs, demonstrating a form of tropism.
