Eutrophication

When a water becomes overly enriched with nutrients which causes rapid growth of algae
Real World Example
Imagine when you overwater a plant, and it becomes waterlogged, leading to wilting instead of thriving. This is similar to what happens in a water body during eutrophication when it becomes overly enriched with nutrients, causing an excessive growth of algae. Just as too much water disrupts the plant's ability to absorb nutrients and breathe, too many nutrients in water disrupt the aquatic ecosystem, depleting oxygen and harming aquatic life.
