The effect of Earth's rotation on the direction of winds and current

Real World Example

Imagine trying to walk in a straight line on a spinning merry-go-round. Just like how the spinning motion of the merry-go-round makes it difficult for you to maintain a straight path, the Earth's rotation affects the path of winds and ocean currents, causing them to curve. In both cases, the underlying movement (the spinning merry-go-round or the rotating Earth) causes a deflection in the intended straight path, which is why winds and currents appear to curve rather than move in straight lines from high to low-pressure areas.
