The transfer of heat energy from a warmer area to a cooler area in a liquid or gas

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to cool down a hot cup of coffee by blowing on it. When you blow air across the surface of the coffee, you're moving cooler air into contact with the hot liquid, which helps transfer the heat away and cool it down. Similarly, in convection, heat is transferred from the warmer area of the liquid or gas (like the hot coffee) to the cooler area (the surrounding air), as the movement of air or fluid facilitates this transfer, much like your breath helps disperse the coffee's heat.
