A sediments that are derived mostly from living organisms
Real World Example
Imagine cleaning out your refrigerator and finding that most of the clutter is made up of old food containers and leftovers. Just like how your fridge accumulates materials mostly from things that were once fresh and edible, biogenous sediments in the ocean are primarily made up of organic matter that once came from living organisms, such as shells, skeletons, and organic debris. In both cases, the accumulation is a result of once-living materials being left behind and building up over time, similar to how the leftovers in your fridge come from meals that were once fresh and part of your daily dining experience.
