Real World Example

Imagine trying to stack a pile of books on a wobbly table, aiming to reach a specific height without having them topple over. Just like measuring how high the stack goes from the floor to the top book, altitude measures how high a point is above sea level. In both cases, whether you're measuring the height of a book stack or determining altitude, you're assessing the vertical distance from a baseline level, be it the floor or sea level, to a desired height.
